In the vibrant Mexican state of Campeche, Tempest enclosures have played a vital part in the delivery of a stunning video mapping project celebrating the region’s special heritage. The permanent installation provides a captivating and colourful spectacle like no other, projecting onto the vast 80 metre wide by 12 metre high facade of the Biblioteca/Aduanda/El principal building in the heart of Campeche City. Tempest’s Blizzard enclosures have been used to protect six high output Christie S+14K-M projectors as part of a project by Creative KAOS Management and its sister company, Proluxon.

Once the site of a flourishing Mayan civilisation, and inhabited as early as 3000BC, the Campeche region is steeped in history and culture. Revellers are now able to enjoy the 30-minute show ‘Celebremos Campeche’ in the capital’s beautiful city centre, where the facade of the library building is transformed into a moving mural highlighting the region’s unique heritage. The permanent installation plays several times a week, with an array of striking 3D animations and advanced mapping techniques on show to grab the attention of tourists and locals alike.

Tempest’s Blizzard enclosures used in the project are specially designed for digital projectors from 3,000 to 15,000 ANSI lumens. The enclosures have ensured continued protection from dust, sand and water ingress, as well as safely shielding the sensitive technologies from the Mexican sun. Through its innovative Goldilocks™ system, these enclosures eliminate overheating and condensation. Goldilocks keeps the environment around the projector at optimum conditions, removing heat when the lamp is on or when the enclosure is heated by the sun, and working 24/7 to prevent the formation of potentially damaging condensation.

“This was a challenging yet hugely rewarding project, and we were thrilled with the service we received from Tempest,” says Valy Tremblay, production manager at Proluxon. “They provided excellent technical support throughout, with superb response times. The end result is simply stunning – a projection mapping display that the Campeche region can be proud of. The show encapsulates the spirit of the Campeche region and its people in a powerful medium.”

“We’re delighted to see such a fantastic outcome,” says Tim Burnham, Tempest’s President. “It is exciting to play a part in this enthralling installation, with our enclosures providing superb projector protection day-in and day-out. We take great pride in being a key component in such installations, enabling the creation of immersive and engaging video mapping spectacles across the globe. Regardless of the local climate, we can ensure that projectors will be well guarded against the elements.”
